Dekmantel Festival

A design system for an app that is a field guide during the festival and the label's home the rest of the year.

Context

One app, two jobs.

Dekmantel is one of the most respected names in European electronic music, and the festival sells out. During the festival the app is infrastructure: stages, set times, the medical post, the week events across the city. Outside it, it is the ecosystem: the label, the podcast series, recordings, and editorial. One toggle switches between them.

In the field

Built for a glance.

The brand is built for posters. A poster has your full attention, an app gets a glance in daylight, one-handed. Set progress reads as a meter, stages run as parallel columns so clashes are visible, and one marker component covers the whole map, colour-coded by kind.

Timetable filtered to starred sets only

Filtering

Acid green earns its place by meaning something.

Green marks state and it marks now, never decoration. Everything else holds at ink and fog, so the green always means something. One pill component carries the whole flow, from closed to open as a full green panel.

Applied

Every state, one component.

Once a filter is on it becomes a dismissible chip, and they stack. The same rules carry into artist pages, where the display face handles labels and times and a plain reading face takes the biography.

The rest of the year

The same parts, at a different pace.

Turn festival mode off and the product slows down. Full-bleed artwork, room to read, same components underneath at a different density. My role ran through to front-end ready: agentic tooling took the component variants and the code, while the decisions that matter stayed human.
